Everyone Worth Knowing by Lauren Weisberger

Plot: Fed up with her boring banking job and her non-existent social life, Bette is thrilled when she unexpectedly lands the opportunity of a lifetime: the chance to work for one of New York’s hottest new PR companies. Getting paid to party, mingling with celebs and taking the fancy of a gorgeous British playboy sounds like a dream come true. And it is…for a while. Until Bette realises that she has been seriously mistreating her friends, family and that guy she fancies in her quest to be cool and, when she misses her best friend’s big going-away bash, she starts to wonder whether she even likes this new version of herself. The question is, is it too late to undo the trouble she’s caused and win the heart of that guy?

Review: This is Lauren Weisberger’s second novel and, having read all four, I would say that this – along with her fourth novel, Last Night at Chateau Marmont – are definitely my two favourites. Although they’re not a series, they all have similarities in terms of setting and storylines so if you find you like one of them, I’m sure you’ll enjoy reading the others as well! Not only are her books really well written and filled with fantastic descriptions of life in New York, but the plots are well-crafted and realistic rollercoasters of emotion, with the characters experiencing all the highs and lows of relationships, work and friends. Written in first person and with main characters who you can’t help but warm to, these books really are the type you just can’t put down until you find out what happens next!
