'I love poor people... they know where the drugs are.'

The book is a memoir written by English actor and comedian Russell Brand. Before we started seeing him in movies such as 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall,' and 'Get Him to the Greek,' Brand found fame in 2004 as host of the 'Big Brother' spin off show - 'Big Brother's Big Mouth.'
'My Booky Wook' spins tales of drunk, drug induced debauchery which I found refreshingly honest. It was the most rollicking read I have had in a long time! The book is separated into four sections, starting out with his troubled childhood growing up in Essex.
“Even as a junkie I stayed true [to vegetarianism] - 'I shall have heroin, but I shan't have a hamburger.' What a sexy little paradox.”
The theme of the book was not only about Brand spiralling downward on a path of addiction to drugs, alcohol and sex. Brand takes the reader on a journey through several of his rehab stays, and through these I found a theme of redemption.
“Be led by your talent, not by your self-loathing; those other things you just have to manage.”
This book was insanely well written - I was so surprised at how articulate and descriptive Russell Brand was. He is such a brilliant mind, and one that was not wasted, but rescued. Can't wait to read 'My Booky Wook 2.'
'GET HIM TO THE GREEK' trailer. ENJOY!
